DOCKS IN BROOKLYN NAVY YARD
A short 10-minute ferry cruise from Manhattan was just long enough to transport guests physically, emotionally and fashionably to the paradise resort of Dior at the Duggal Greenhouse on Brooklyn’s East River waterfront. Greeted with champagne by Dior’s own navy of sailor suit-clad male models, guests were immersed in an evening fit for the glamour and style of the 2015 Dior Cruise Collection. The reception hinted French Riviera-cool, but high fashion showmanship took center stage, dazzling in every way and true to everything Dior. A mirrored backdrop reflected the 20,000-square-foot stage and elevated runway, and the Manhattan skyline sunset was second only to the 66-look resort collection. The extravaganza drew plenty of fashion mainstays, including Rihanna, Marion Cotillard, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Margot Robbie, Leelee Sobieski and Christian Louboutin. “It’s a little bit of real New York,” said model/DJ Alexandra Richards. “To bring that to the collection is something I love. And it’s exciting to bring the French bit to Brooklyn.” Again the venue of choice for top designers looking to broaden fashion’s NYC boundaries out to Brooklyn, we were honored to have been selected by Dior to host the 2015 Cruise Collection runway show at the Duggal Greenhouse.
Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek LINCOLN CENTER
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is the apex of the global fashion industry. Held biannually, NYC’s largest media event brings nearly 100 top designers and more than 100,000 fashion insiders to the iconic Lincoln Center for 8 days of electrifying style and energy. Duggal Visual Solutions proudly continues its tradition of producing beautiful visuals for Fashion Week. We enjoy working with event sponsors IMG Fashion and Getty Images, “the premium imagery source for Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek,” in creating and installing an elegant, translucent photo exhibition at the Lincoln Center. The nearly 10-foot-tall images welcome guests to an absolutely fabulous celebration of the fashion world.
Lady A R T R AV E Gaga
Celebrating the release of her new album in epic fashion, Lady Gaga performed the full track list of ARTPOP in a late-night private concert at the Duggal Greenhouse. Transcendence was at an all-time high at artRave as Gaga performed in front of a custom, larger-than-life sculpture of herself by artist Jeff Koons. Koons also created the artwork for the album and was highlighted among the many stars in attendance. In addition to unveiling her musical works of art, Mother Monster further engraved her name in the art world, presenting newworks from Koons and other creative visionaries in her circle, including Robert Wilson, Marina Abramovic and Inez & Vinoodh.
Comic Con Comic-Con International: San Diego is the premier destination for comic fanatics, pop culture buffs and gamers from all corners of the globe. Entertainment producers, actors, writers and creatives know it is also an unmatched platform for engaging with their most passionate fans. Celebrating 75 years of superheroism and building anticipation for the 2015 release of the Batman: Arkham Knight video game, Batman undoubtedly stole the show at Comic-Con 2014 with the hot-ticket Cape/Cowl/Create party, hosted by VICE, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment. VICE invited hip artists like Mister Cartoon and Conrad Leach to reimagine Batman’s iconic costume, displaying their designs on rotating platforms at the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown San Diego. Duggal’s west coast team was recruited by VICE to produce event and venue design elements including custom vinyl window displays, panel covers, large format printing, the celebrity and guest photo backdrop, and the cherished Cape/Cowl/Create party invite. Nikon
S TA N D S O U T AT P D N P H O T O P L U S E X P O
A global leader in the engineering of optics and image capture, Nikon equips photographers of all ages and skill levels with the gear and inspiration to define themselves with the art of photography. Nikon’s philosophy of “trustworthiness and creativity” is one that we at Duggal identifywith. At the annual PDN PhotoPlus Expo in NewYork City, Nikon’s own aspirations, “Meeting needs. Exceeding expectations,” also became ours in producing their eye-catching showcase area in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. At PhotoPlus 2014, Duggal provided an array of unique and functional solutions to create the ultimate trade show exhibition for Nikon. Ultra HD Printing to Nikon’s Highest Specs Duggal printed photographs from Nikon’s cameras in ultra high definition on the Polielettronica Laser Lab printer, the only printer in existence with the ability to produce the full depth of data available in files from Nikon’s newly released D810 DSLR.
Custom Fabric Backdrops When Duggal produces a “backdrop,” we create a powerful visual component. Duggal designed super- dense, black cloth backdrops that added depth of field and an extra “pop” to Nikon’s gallery images. Clear black edges and light absorbing suede made for a truly dramatic visual effect. Large Format, High Res Panels All walls featuring Nikon’s products and messaging were printed on the Inca Onset direct to Sintra, providing high resolution printing in large format with unmatched accuracy. Moncler 2015 A/W COL LECT ION
Onboard the ferry ride to the Moncler fashion show at the Duggal Greenhouse, guests sipped champagne in anticipation of what was surely going to be another Moncler spectacular. The 2015 Valentine’s Day show, “Love Factory” was literally like opening a big box of chocolates. An enormous heart-shaped chocolate box awaited guests at what was more of a Valentine’s Day fashion love fest than fashion show. The Supreme’s “Baby Love” and other nostalgic love tunes played, the lid of the chocolate box elevated to the ceiling and 25 couples hydraulically lifted out of the box…dazzling.
Each couple was decked out in Moncler’s luxurious outerwear representing 25 different sports. A bride and a groom in puffer dress and tuxedo ended the show, along with fellow models, all paired off as couples, embracing and kissing. Celebrating Moncler’s unique outerwear and passion, the showwas a Valentine’s Day extravaganza. Located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the Duggal Greenhouse is an exceptional choice for fashion shows and other live events. It is perfectly situated, expertly managed, and ready to host your most important event. Guests may arrive by ground transportation or yacht and dock just steps from the Duggal Greenhouse and its private waterfront patio.
Cadillac U N V E I L S T H E C T 6
General Motors Company’s Cadillac, uncovered its new CT6 sedan at the Duggal Greenhouse, marking the auto giant’s long anticipated return to the luxury sedan market. Talked about for months the CT6 was revealed ahead of press days for the New York International Auto Show. The CT6 is as luxurious as they come, and this event was a top-notch launch party to match. There could not have been a more fitting environment than the Duggal Greenhouse for the unveiling of Cadillac’s new upscale model. Designed by the brilliantly imaginative Stefan Beckman to showcase the long awaited reveal, the 35,000 square foot Greenhouse was outfitted with dramatically lit, modern, white sculptural backdrops emphasizing its loftiness, with key lighting aimed strategically at the CT6 on slowly revealed turntables. Celebrating also Cadillac headquarter’s move to New York City, large format projections featured scenes of the brand’s new hometown as well as product-related content. “This is an important night for Cadillac,” Johan de Nysschen, president of the luxury brand, said. “It represents another milestone in our exciting history.” The elegant setting was a fitting showcase for a return to global prestige. Some guests arrived to the event via yacht and were greeted at the Greenhouse pier by a large illuminated billboard declaring Cadillac’s message for the product launch, “Dare Greatly.” Dare they did. Cadillac, in association with the Duggal Greenhouse, produced a truly beautiful event. Besides top shelf cocktails, Cadillac treated its guests to a full raw bar, duck confit pot pies, oysters on the half shell and lobster tails, to name just a few of the delicacies. In addition to the 5 star menu, R&B singer, songwriter and producer Raphael Saadiq was on hand to entertain the crowd.
Nike TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS Engraved in both sports and popular culture, Nike continues to raise the bar with unforgettable events and campaigns. Nike’s Tournament of Champions is a massive annual street basketball festival featuring star NBA players and iconic streetball legends; it is a modern gem of the sport’s history and culture. Free to the public, the 2014 four-day tournament pitted select teams from some of basketball’s grittiest cities against each other in an electrifying, fan-frenzying environment that put the crowd within arm’s reach of basketball icons, pro and street. To accommodate such an amazing event, Duggal Global Events worked relentlessly to transform the 35,000-square-foot Duggal Greenhouse into home of the 2013 Nike Tournament of Champions. Banners and interactive multimedia booths complemented a true basketball court, while stunning Manhattan and East River views served as a picture-perfect backdrop for a one-of-a-kind spectator experience. Highlights include Team Kevin Durant vs. Team James Harden in the “Summer is Serious Game,” and a slam-dunk performance by French Montana. Duggal Visual Solutions is proud of its relationship with Nike. It was truly an honor to host the 2013 Nike Tournament of Champions at the Duggal Greenhouse.
B R E A K S T H E MO L D AlexanderWang
It was a historic night for New York Fashion Week as Alexander Wang introduced his highly touted Fall 2014 collection in Brooklyn, venturing beyond the traditional Manhattan confines of the fashion elite. The Duggal Greenhouse proved perfect for the celebrated designer’s bold move, providing a couple fashionable perks over Manhattan – blank canvas open space allowing unlimited creativity, and spectacular waterfront views of the Manhattan skyline itself. The striking industrial set design, theatrical elements and rotating catwalk perfectly complemented the collection’s nod to extreme conditions and transformative, heat- sensitive black-to-color outfits.
Charity: Water 2014 ‘CHAR I TY: BAL L’
Non-profit charity: water’s peak annual event was hosted at the Duggal Greenhouse this year; It was a special evening benefitting the people of Malawi and their need for safe, clean drinking water. Roughly 2,000 people attended the 8th annual ‘charity: ball,’ which raised nearly $4 million in funding while drawing attention to the 800 million people worldwide without access to life’s greatest necessity. Celebrities and royalty were in attendance as Caterpillar Inc. donated $1 million, through the Caterpillar Foundation, in an interactive fundraiser where guests carried jugs of water down the “waterwalk,” generating $1,000 with each participant. Duggal Global Events coordinated production facility logistics for the entire event, while Duggal Visual Solutions produced splashing interior graphics and design décor for the space. “We were so lucky to have found a venue and company as great as Duggal to partner with,” said Lauren Kane, Special Events Project Manager at charity: water. “Their entire team was such a pleasure to work with, and we can’t thank them enough for making the event a success.” Congratulations & heartfelt appreciation to the entire charity: water team.
Super Bowl XLVIII ON E F O R T H E A G E S
All eyes were on NewYork and New Jersey as Super Bowl XLVIII became the global focal point for the single most watched television program in history. The Super Bowl Host Committee took the Big Game to historic heights with events spanning from Super Bowl Boulevard on Broadway to festivities across Northern New Jersey, all while defying the odds of winter weather by mere hours. Known globally for creating the biggest and brightest stages, Duggal Visual Solutions was called on to transform venues throughout the area, most notably MetLife Stadium. Planning for nearly a year and launching 24-hour production weeks in advance, the Duggal team worked around the clock printing massive banners, field backdrops, signs, placards and sponsorship visuals to provide an unforgettable fan experience for more than 82,000 live spectators and 112.2 million viewers.
L A N D O F G I N Hendrick’s Emp º rium Of The Unusual If you ever stumble upon an “Emporium of the Unusual,” by all means, enter. The pop-up speakeasy offers free Hendrick’s Gin cocktails in a faux Victorian setting that’s one part circus, one part hangout and two parts awesome, with a twist. Created by our friends at MomentumWorldwide, the Hendrick’s Emporium of the Unusual brought “cheery defiance of the mundane” to NYC’s Chelsea Market for a weekend of magic (and gin). Curious visitors entered through a revolving bookcase into a whimsical land filled with odd characters and “delightfully peculiar cocktails.” Duggal Visual Solutions joined the fun as Senior Account Executive Carole Garcia collaborated with the Momentum team to produce eye-catching window graphics that lured passersby into a surreal brand experience of wizardry (and again, gin).
US Open The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is in transformation – and Duggal is there! While in the midst of a half-billion dollar renovation, including a new retractable roof on the Arthur Ashe Stadium, nothing detracts from the spectacle, atmosphere, excitement and grandeur of the world’s greatest tennis venue Duggal Visual Solutions has been part of the planning for months leading up to the 2015 USTA US Open. One of the most beautiful venues in all of sports, the Queens NewYork complex becomes tennis heaven – 50 acres of interactive displays, sponsor exhibitions, gift shops, first rate dining, and non-stop tennis action on 20 courts including three of the world’s largest tennis stadiums. Duggal Visual Solutions is extremely proud to work alongside the USTA in making each US Open specta- tor experience more exciting than the last. The entire Queens, NY grounds see an annual makeover with the newest design themes and concepts integrated into specialty exhibits, flags, banners and directional signage. In the months leading up to the Open, Creative Visuals Manager Hillary Altman can be found on-site with Dug- gal Installation Services ensuring that the Grand Slam stage is set to host the greatest tennis on earth. After all, “nothing beats being here.”
World Of Watson
Meet Watson, IBM’s futuristic supercomputer that’s as smart as you – not smarter, because that would make it a robot. Robots lack cognition and the ability to learn; Watson possesses ‘the cognitive framework that humans use to inform their decisions.’ You may have heard of Watson. In 2011, it defeated human contestants on Jeopardy. Since going commercial in January 2014, it has become a game-changing analyst for everything from healthcare to oil refining; financial services to e-commerce. Watson is currently working with 14 U.S. cancer centers to develop personalized cancer treatments based on patients’ genetics. At the same time, it has also published a 231- page cookbook with the Institute of Culinary Education in New York. Care for an Austrian chocolate burrito? Watson is everywhere, but for three days in May, the Duggal Greenhouse became the ‘World of Watson.’ IBM hosted thought leaders from 26 industries across 32 countries at the Brooklyn waterfront venue for an interactive forum on our future with Watson. Keynote speakers shared their experiences employing IBM’s groundbreaking technology, while developers and creative geniuses camped out and competed for $25,000 in prizes as part of the first-ever Watson Hackathon. IBM couldn’t have picked a more fitting venue to embody the vision and endless possibilities behind Watson; the Duggal Greenhouse sits at the intersection of art, science and technology. Roughly 800 guests were taken by ferry to and from the IBM conference, which included product rollouts, local food trucks and an outdoor cyber lounge. Duggal’s Mary Lovci and Kimberly Leonard led the Duggal production and installation teams in transforming the Greenhouse into the ‘World of Watson’ with a 50-foot digital screen, framed canvas walls, 15- foot banners, vinyl graphics and signage.
In another first for Brooklyn, AOL unveiled its full slate of 2014 original web video series at the Duggal Greenhouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. 3,000 celebrities, executives andmedia thought leaders were on hand at the Greenhouse for AOL’s “Connected” NewFront conference, possibly making it Brooklyn’s largest media event ever. James Franco was there as the face of “Making a Scene with James Franco,” a new series that will recreate classic Hollywood scenes. Other stars in attendance included Sarah Jessica Parker, Kevin Nealon, Portia de Rossi, Zoe Saldana, Nicole Richie, Mike Epps and Bode Miller. In all, AOL introduced 12 new original series and 4 returning series, along with a slew of strategic partnerships and plans. Duggal Visual Solutions provided full-scale graphics production to visually establish AOL’s presence in the digital future. We transformed the Greenhouse’s interior from floor to ceiling, and even branded its exterior with a gigantic AOL logo and “Connected” wordmark that could be seen from across the East River. The Greenhouse again proved to be an extraordinary venue in Brooklyn’s cultural lure of fashion, entertainment, media, technology and art. UNVE I LS NEW PROGRAMMING AOL
